Improved Version of Display in Long-Established Size
AMPIRE has released an improved version of its 5.7-inch display, continuing its commitment to supporting long-established display sizes. This ensures that these classic formats are not overlooked in favour of newer screen sizes. The display, with its 4:3 aspect ratio, is well-suited for small measuring devices and industrial control systems.

5.7-inch displays have for long been a standard size. This is especially noteworthy given the current trend towards wide displays, which is increasingly shaping the industry. Many manufacturers have already started prioritising newer display sizes. For example, Innolux discontinued production of 5.7-inch TN technology displays last year, and other manufacturers may follow this path.
AMPIRE's 5.7-inch TFT-LCD utilises IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology, offering a viewing angle of 85° in all directions. The impressive 1200:1 contrast ratio significantly enhances image quality compared to the previously widespread TN technology. Combined with a brightness of 425 cd/m², the display delivers optimal content visibility across all applications. Additionally, the backlight offers a long lifespan of 50,000 hours, ensuring lasting reliability.
Advanced Connectivity and Resolution Features
The display is driven via an LVDS interface that transmits 6 bits per color, resulting in an 18-bit color depth and the ability to display 262,000 colors. Thanks to differential transmission, data can be sent to the display over longer distances, making it easy to connect to a remotely located computer. The display's resolution is 640*480 pixels, which is four times the typical 320*240 pixels found in 5.7-inch TN displays, resulting in a much sharper image.
A key feature of this display is the integrated backlight driver, which allows for seamless brightness control via a dedicated pin using a PWM signal. The power supply requirements are 3.3V for the LCD and 5.0V for the backlight, simplifying integration into most systems. The display also operates within an industrial temperature range of -20°C to +70°C.
Furthermore, the display features a projected capacitive touchscreen with a USB interface, making it easy to integrate into embedded PC applications. The self-calibrating multi-touch supports up to five fingers simultaneously.
